Mountain Aragats is the 4th highest peak in the Armenian Ridge and the highest mountain in the nowadays Armenia. It’s highest summit has 4095m height (it’s an extinct volcano and one of it’s eruptions divide the mountain into 4 summits). There are many cultural memorials and picturesque landscapes which make Aragats very attractive place for travelers and climbers. On the height of 3200m there is a wonderful lake which is called Qarilich. Going up the Aragats and reaching the Southern peak which is the most easiest peak, You can climb down to the crater and then climb up to the hardest Northern peak where You’ll need climbing equipment.
On the slopes of Aragats there is a 7th century fortress – Amberd (the fortress in clouds). It mainly remains intact and You should visit this incredible fortress and the church S. Astvatsatsin next to the fortress.
